Ah, January, the season of new fitness regimens, fresh calendars, and trendsetting styles. In our world, we love looking at what’s popular with colors.
While Pantone has been announcing a color of the year since 2000 (Cerulean Blue), this year Pinterest and Etsy are getting in on the action.
So, let’s take a look at what colors we might expect to see this year.
Pantone Color of the Year 2025: Mocha Mousse
Pantone declared Mocha Mousse as its Color of the Year 2025. Brown? Really? Not gonna lie, it’s a little 💩 emoji adjacent. But, hey, who are we to argue with the Pantone Color Institute?
The color powers that be have declared Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse a “soft, warming brown.” It’s a color that can stand on its own or as a versatile foundation.
Pantone notes Mocha Mousse “nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.”
OK, we can get behind coffee and chocolate.
Etsy’s 2025 Color of the Year: Lime Cream
We’re going from mousse to lime. Etsy’s color choice is a soft and serene lime cream. They describe this color as “a dreamy, delicate shade that’s equal parts calming and uplifting.”
Evoking feelings of abundance, peace, and refreshment, this soft green acts as a neutral shade that easily pairs with all sorts of other colors, writes Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy’s trend expert.
Pinterest Predicts 2025
From warm brown to soft green to bright red! Pinterest predicts a Cherry Coded explosion this year.
According to the Pinterest Predicts report, “Gen Z and Millennials will infuse cherries into their makeup, menus and mood boards this year. One thing’s for sure—tart will have your heart in 2025.”
That’s quite a range of colors! And begs the question: should you jump on these color trends?
Don’t rush out and change all your branding to one of these trendy shades. Who knows if Mocha Mousse will stick around?
Instead, incorporate a trendy color into a one-off design or special occasion graphic. Use it for a trade show giveaway or special promotional product. This way you can have fun with something new while maintaining the integrity of your current brand colors.
